Pochoir is a printing process in which the printer utilizes a series of stencils to lay color, which gives these works vibrant color and luminosity. E.A. Seguy was a French designer, and these plates are from a series of “Suggestions” on Art Deco motifs. These prints are fragments from the 1920’s Suggestions pour étoffes et tapis: 60 motifs en couleur.

A prolific teacher of, largely animation, art students at the Art Center College of Design for over four decades, Carmean may be best know for his expert life and figure drawings. Able to expertly capture the human form from nearly any perspective, his use of color in his paintings illuminates his mastery of the live model–blending his drawing style with an aire of Impressionism. Think Gauguin meets Caravaggio.
